Our History
Plantation’s story is woven into the broader tapestry of Louisville’s history. The city was initially developed around agricultural land, with significant contributions from the Palmer-Ball farm, spanning roughly 100 acres. This development led to the establishment of the original subdivision, primarily to support the Plantation Swim Club. From 1956 to 2004, this club was not just a local gathering spot but also a prestigious venue for the National Swim and Diving Championships, broadcasted nationally on ABC Sports. Additionally, a portion of the land was generously donated to the Catholic Church, laying the foundation for the Mother of Good Counsel parish and school, now the site of Portland Christian School.

Opportunity

The economic foundation of Plantation is robust, with a median household income of $74,844 and a strong sense of industry and entrepreneurship among our residents. While we celebrate our achievements, we remain committed to addressing and minimizing poverty, ensuring that Plantation is a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
